Highland Gate Community

Extensive consultation with the existing community was the key to the success of this complex infill development project that entailed replacing a defunct golf course with 159 residential units and a multi-story condominium. Through negotiation with the Highland Gate Rate Payers Association, an innovative plan was approved that included over eight-kilometers of trails, 40-hectares of open space and a new park. The consultation process included individual discussions with over 300 residents to facilitate the generation of interface landscape plans to address tree preservation, visual impact mitigation and privacy objectives. The Community Master Plan incorporates Low Impact Development (LID), watercourse rehabilitation and environmental restoration initiatives.
