The Civic Mall

Schollen & Company Inc. was retained by the City of Markham to design a new linear park in their new downtown core in Markham Centre. The unique open space is animated by a series of new residential towers and so the design strategy was simply to provide plaza spaces directly opposite the main public access and egress points along the building wall. Decorative raised planters and other planters provide a unique rhythm to the space and allow it to read as both small spaces and a cohesive whole. Infrastructure was put in place to allow for the future installation of public art.
