Schollen & Company Inc. was retained by the City of North Bay and Community Waterfront Friends (CWF) to develop a multi-phased Master Plan for a new waterfront park on the former railway lands. Phase 1 included the development of a pedestrian link between the waterfront and Heritage Railway Museum complete with a railway underpass and buskers stage.
Phases 2 and 3 have seen the development of comprehensive working drawings for the central square and supporting parking facilities. The central square includes the development of several park structures designed by Schollen & Company Inc. as well as a fountain/waterplay feature in front of the Heritage Railway Museum and a clock / media tower with fully coordinated audio-visual and special effects controls. The park represents a significant “Brownfields” redevelopment effort and has been recognized in this regard through the receipt of a “Brownie” Award in 2010 from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. The park includes a myriad of recreational and social amenities as is designed to celebrate the rich heritage of North Bay.
