At approximately 975-hectares, Lake Ontario Park is envisioned to be Toronto’s largest urban park. Field Operations and Schollen & Company Inc. were retained to generate the Master Plan for this important landscape. The Master Plan was developed with a focus on establishing a connected assemblage of waterfront experiences utilizing a system of ‘transects’. The Master Plan recognizes the unique character of the existing landscapes along the waterfront while proposing interventions to enliven, animate and connect the waterfront while at the same time celebrating the unique identity of each component area. The Master Plan was developed through a process of extensive consultation with the public, numerous stakeholders and interested groups to achieve consensus on the preferred plan. This project was recognized through the receipt of a National Honour Award from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA).
