Schollen & Company Inc. was retained by the City of Vaughan to design a five-acre park located centrally within the new Thornhill City Centre Precinct. The park was unique insofar that it was one of the first new parks in Vaughan to be designed as a primarily ‘civic’ open space. The materials selected for design elements within the park took their cue directly from the architecture that frames the park, giving the space a unique feeling of ‘fit’ with the community.
Two-acres of the site was a degraded woodlot and so our scope of work included a woodlot management strategy to make the woodlot more accessible and to reduce the impact of invasive species on long term health.
