The restoration of Toogood Pond, a focal point in the City of Markham‘s parks system, was undertaken with a focus on achieving numerous social and ecological objectives. The enhancement of shoreline stability and water quality and installation of a fishway to improve aquatic habitat were undertaken using biotechnical and bioengineering techniques. Improvements to the park also included the construction of viewing and fishing platforms, skating facilities, and a toboggan hill to improve the quality and diversity of recreational opportunities.
